Design that makes sense

Astereo (pronounced simply “a stereo”) has been the home of Andrew Clemente, a 19 year old Rhode Island based web designer since January 2005. With 6 solid years in the design industry, I have been lucky enough to experience a lot of success – be it with my own projects or with the many clients I have had the privilege to work with, a list I look forward to seeing grow.

I have built up a brand that represents honest, no excuse design and development services. Projects are completed quickly, with constant updates provided so you always know what exactly is going on. Ask any former client, and I can assure you they will rave about their experience working with me.

I’m currently in college for business, a field I have already had a great deal of success in with my two biggest projects to date – Devlounge and The Market Theme. I continue to strengthen my skills and incorporate new ones to allow me to take on larger, more demanding clients. I hope you would consider being the next.

Case Study: Devlounge

Devlounge (www.devlounge.net) was an original creation that launched in April 2006. Devlounge quickly began to build a solid following around the basis of original and fresh design and development related articles written by myself. Soon the site expanded and additional staff was added. During my time at the helm of Devlounge, the site was redesigned five times, rebuilt, and reorganized. I wrote over 300 full length articles on topics ranging from Wordpress instruction tutorials and guides to web application reviews. I also introduced Friday Focus, a weekly look at the hottest design and news in the design and development community. I had the opportunity to interview industry professionals including Larissa Meek, Matt Brett, and Jonathan Snook. To add to the success, I released five free Wordpress themes for free using Devlounge as an outlet to spread and promote theme. Each theme had a minimum of 5,000 downloads and many were featured on Smashing Magazine. When Devlounge was sold in August 2007, the site held 2,000+ feed subscribers and a large visitor following, including a PR6 page ranking and extremely high rankings on Technorati and Alexa.

Case Study: Market Theme

The Market Theme (www.markettheme.com) was an innovative Wordpress project I began in January 2008. After a month and a half of developing, the Market Theme for Wordpress was released. It was my first attempt in the premium theme market. The theme quickly found substantial success in the form of a $40 download which gave customers an easy way to sell items using custom fields to automatically generate paypal buy now buttons. In May 2008, the Market Theme underwent a major renovation and a new set of features were added. I outsourced two dramatic new features – a custom built ajax shopping cart and a back end administration panel. A new front end version of the theme was also released. Use of the theme skyrocketed and profits soared. Over 300 copies of the theme were sold in six short months. In August 2008 Market was sold and is now under new ownership.
